Our mission is to promote the sport of rowing on Seattleās Eastside to athletes of all ages and abilities, while inspiring an atmosphere of teamwork and competition.
Sammamish Rowing Association is a community rowing program, dedicated to providing the broadest possible access to rowing for everyone in the area. We are the only rowing program on Seattle’s Eastside. We row on beautiful Lake Sammamish; our boathouse is in Marymoor Park. SRA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Costs are kept low — no membership is required to participate at SRA. Class fees are very reasonable and scholarships are available for youth and adults in need. There is a wide range of programs, from recreation novice to national-level competitive. Adult classes are designed for busy people. And our youth classes synch with local school schedules. We also offer a membership program for rowers that wish to use SRA sculling boats and fitness equipment outside of classes, and an adaptive program for people with disabilities.
SRA was founded in 1996 at Idylwood Park in Redmond. We moved into an abandoned boathouse in Marymoor Park in 1997 and formed a strong partnership with King County Parks. A lot of loving work has restored the boathouse, which is easily accessible from all Eastside communities. The SRA boathouse is home to a wide range of equipment. We invest substantially in up-to-date boats, oars and other equipment.
Today, SRA is one of the largest rowing organizations in the Pacific Northwest, increasing in size every year since its inception. We have a fun, friendly, positive, encouraging atmosphere for rowers of all ages and levels.
SRA has had a positive effect in the area by giving area youth additional athletic opportunities and sponsoring outreach activities to schools and corporations. SRA believes in community — both being there for the community and giving back to the community. We hope you can become a part of our growing community of rowers.
